McCain Takes a Shot at Long Island

Why is Long Island constantly at the butt of jokes? Everyone always makes fun of us. And shows like Jersey Shore and My Big Friggen' Wedding just add fuel to the fire.

So, since we are used to being made fun of, I wasn't surprised to see John McCain's recent comment on the Senate floor.

McCain said:

"ISN'T IT TRUE THAT JUSTICE O'CONNOR WAS SPECIFICALLY REFERRING TO A CASE OF A PERSON WHO WAS CAPTURED ON LONG ISLAND? LAST I CHECKED, LONG ISLAND WAS PART -- ALBEIT SOMETIMES REGRETTABLY -- PART OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA."

Aw, snap. Well, my favorite NY Senator, Chuck Schumer, did not find this funny and tweeted the following:
"@SenJohnMcCain - All of America saw how heroic Long Islanders were on 9/11. #LongIsland deserves an apology."

Pulling out the 9/11 card? Ouch.

McCain came back with a half-hearted apology saying his colleagues can't take a joke.

Schumer takes to Twitter again:

"NYers can take a joke. But if @SenJohnMcCain wants to mock parts of America, stick to Arizona."

I love when the Senate spends time insulting each other's states instead of solving our massive political problems.
